    TDB to augment facilities for Ayappa pilgrims

    Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) would keep ready stock of nearly 20 to 30 lakh cans of 'aravana' prasadam at Sabarimala Ayappa temple two months ahead of the beginning of the festival season this time following shortage felt for the prasadam last year.

    Talking to reporters here on Saturday, TDB President C K Guptan said Board itself would prepare the prasadam this year. It was also planned to set up a unit to produce cans for packing aravana at Nilackel, he said.

    Work for improving facilities for pilgrims was also progressing.Construction work of quarters for health and police personnel was on.A modern police aid post would be set up at the 'Sannidhanam,' he said.

    Referring to the affairs of the Board, Guptan said there were no differences between him and two members P Narayanan of the CPI and Sumathikutty Amma of the RSP.
