Bangalore (PTI): Intensifying combing operations in the areas struck by the hooch tragedy in Karnataka, Excise officials on Tuesday arrested 13 people allegedly involved in sale of illicit liquor in Anekal Taluk.

"We have nabbed 13 people in connection with the sale of spurious liquor in Anekal taluk," Joint Commissioner Excise, Nagendrappa told PTI.

Though search operations were conducted in Adigondanahalli, Banahalli, Koogur, Chandapura, Gonigattipura and Thirumagondanahalli of Anekal taluk "nothing was found", he said.

However, he said, Excise officials seized waste material worth Rs 50,000 used to manufacture spurious liquor in Harobenahalli village, six km from Shimoga.

The combing operations are on in the areas affected by the tragedy, Nagendrappa said.
