New Delhi (PTI): The Left parties are likely to issue another warning soon to the ruling UPA following the "failure" of the government to stem burgeoning prices and its efforts to operationalise the Indo-US nuclear deal, the CPI said on Sunday.

"Taking into account the government's failure in controlling inflation and its stand on the nuclear deal, the Left parties will take some stand which is serious," party General Secretary A B Bardhan told reporters here.

The Left parties are slated to meet here on May 23, six days ahead of their ninth round of deliberations with the UPA on the nuclear issue.

Briefing reporters on the two-day National Executive meeting of the party, the CPI leader said "the general attitude of the Left parties towards UPA was discussed, mainly in the context of price rise and the deal.

"Several sections of the people and the Left followers have started raising questions whether it is worthwhile to support a government which opposes the views of its supporters. Therefore we are thinking very seriously on those lines. This sentiment will be brought to the notice of other Left parties at the meeting (on May 23)."

In response to repeated questions on whether the Left would again threaten to withdraw support, Bardhan said there are "pressures on us from sections of the people and the followers of the Left questioning our outside support. The Left parties will discuss it and see what can be done. The Left will discuss this growing pressure."
