The Grudge
Genre: Horror
Director : Takashi Shimizu

Storyline: Everyone who goes to the eerie house disappears. And there's something strange in the closet_ Bottomline: . Aaaaaaaaargh!
This is probably hilarious stuff for veteran scary movie watchers, but for someone who watched most of the film through the right eyelashes, one would say you've got to be insane to watch a film like this.
The good part is that the director very kindly lets you know when you have to shut your eyes as there is dramatic, goose bump-causing music.
Set in Tokyo, the film is built around a house that would keep the ghostbusters in business for months.
The film is remade by the original Japanese director and much of the Japanese cast has been retained in this version.
It is the fourth film to be made by Shimizu about the same haunted house in Tokyo, the same grudge.
The cast includes Buffy, or rather, Sarah Michelle Gellar. This helps, as you know that the protagonist has a rap sheet with vampires and so a longhaired, bulgy-eyed, annoyed ghost with a grudge is not going to scare her.
You know how a good scary movie is frightening when you don't know what it is that you are dealing with.
The suggestion is so much more terrifying than the actual image. That's where this horror flick would lose its braver audiences who have hobnobbed with the exorcist and Rosemary's ghastly baby.
An old, haggard Bill Pullman makes a brief appearance in this film.
All right, so one was terrified throughout, and therefore should not pass judgment, but it is a bit kitschy.
