The lady who has created a niche for herself with colourful portraits of Indian women is back with a bang. Illoosh Ahluwalia unveiled her paintings
"The Soni Kudi" at the Uppal's Orchid in the company of a galaxy of celebrities.
"It's the essence of Indian beauty, the softness, the innocence in her, and her ability to do different things," is how Illoosh describes the Indian women and as well as her paintings, where an extensive use of the palette knife has won her accolades all around the world.
The paintings startfrom Rs.40,000 and go up to as high as Rs.1,75,000. They left everyone speechless especially because of the skin tone of the portraits.
Illoosh who tries to depict the various sides of the Indian woman characterises her as homely by emphasising the dupatta in some, highlighting the careless facet through the unkempt tresses and a fantasy by capturing the dreams in her eyes. "It's all these aspects that make her complete," she says.
"If there is one thing that sets Illoosh apart amongst the Indian artists it's her forte with faces and keeping things simple. That's why every one appreciates her work so much, ", says friend and model Anjhula Singh Bais. Unveiling the portrait, Mandeep Mehta, Illoosh gave the quote of the moment "I see a soni kudi in every Indian woman's face." Not many would disagree!
